Optional early morning prayer services for those who desire. after a hearty breakfast, we will be guided by a world renown expert in Christianity. Our understanding of the beginnings and development of Christianity will be greatly deepend as we explore the winding alleys stopping at awe inspiring sites (some famous and some very off the beaten trail). After a traditional hearty Shabbat lunch at the hotel, we meet our expert in Judiasm. We will walk through the Jewish Quarter: he will be guiding, teaching and discussing about the pivotal events in Jewish history using the places in the Old City as our reference marks.

Rabbi Katz is an unassuming local hero who has dedicated his life to serving others. He will tell us about accompaning and ministering during the evacuation of the Israeli Jewish towns from Gush Katif and the courageous relocation and establishing new homes in the Biblical Lachish region. We will go on a tour through the «normal life» of the people of Sderot who are living on the border with Gaza: the playgrounds have catapillar shaped bombshelters, the iron dome is situated amidst the backyard bikes, and more. You will leave here with a sense of wonder and an astute political understanding of the Middle East.

Safed is not only one of Israel’s holiest cities, it is also the highest city in the Holy Land. Set in the dense pine forests of the Upper Galilee, overlooking Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee, Safed is a delicious blend of ancient grandeur. For thousands of years, the ancient city of Safed was conquered and reconquered – always changing hands. Said to have been founded by one of Noah’s sons after the Great Flood, the city was inhabited by the local Semetic populations throughout the years. Today, after years of conflict ranging from the Crusaders to the Mamlukes to the British, Safed survives – as pretty, vibrant and mystical as ever!

The Israel Intelligence Heritage and Commemoration Center is devoted to shedding light on some of the more secretive chapters in Israel’s history. The Center’s mission is to honor, remember, and preserve information on members of Israel’s intelligence agencies and program as a whole. It has biographies and mission summaries of Mossad agents (the agency that operates abroad) and the Shin-Bet (the internal surveillance agency). The Center was created in response to public pressure on the Israeli intelligence community for more overarching transparency. These demands were however met with fear and resistance by agents who are still operating and could be endangered by information from the past. A committee carefully reviews and approves any material that is released to the public. The Center includes programs, lectures, and a theatre with films on Israeli intelligence operations and publishes a newsletter.
